Marriage redefined

This is such a tiresome statement:

Hey, check it out! The sun is still hanging in the sky. No tidal waves, earthquakes or massive fires.

Looks like we can finally cross gay people getting married off of the list of things people think will bring on armageddon.

No legitimate socially conservative commentator ever argued that gay marriage would have an immediate and completely devestating impact on society. Obviously, it won't.

However, over the long term, it will have deep negative impacts. Put simply, we as a society (or should I say - the courts, in behalf of/in spite of society) are continuing down the path that seperates marriage from childrearing. Marriage, the fundamental unit of western society, is being fundamentally altered by judicial fiat - NOT BY ANY POPULAR DEMAND - to be nothing more than a way for any two people to qualify for government/financial/insurance benefits. And keep in mind that now that we've decided that any two people can be "married," it won't be long before other doors open up. If the only thing that was stopping gay marriage from happening was bigotry and discrimination, what about polygamy? How about bestiality? If it's all about what makes people feel good, why not? The line that seperates marriage from everything else has now become completely arbitrary, shifting with the whims of the left.

And that, in the long run, is what will weaken marriage. Marriage is supposed to be the union of a man and a woman for the purpose of mutual support and bringing children into the world - creating future generations of society. Not any more. Marriage is now, more than ever, about the felt needs of the adults involved. Once again, the kids get the shaft.

Fahrenheit 9/11

Aah, Michael Moore - how long must I endure this pathetic hack defiling the good name of the Detroit Tigers by wearing their esteemed logo upon his foul, greasy brow? The French, in their usual pathetic manner, have embraced this fictional documentarian at Cannes as a truth teller - see the fawning press releases here - completely ignoring the documented lies of his past and present.

No doubt, Fahrenheit 9/11 will win top honors at the festival and go on to provide much fodder for the blog mill throughout this summer. History would indicate that this film likely contains a million distortions and untruths, just like the rest of Moore's garbage, and we can also expect Moore to portray himself as a martyr/victim when those lies are exposed. We should not expect Moore to suffer any consequences for his lies.

I grow tired of discussing this awful man, and the thought that he will be all over the news this summer (as he will no doubt attempt to do) turns my stomach.

You have arrived at the end of the freaking world. I will do my best to post here occasionally in order to keep you posted on the gradual decline and fall of western culture.
